Part of having a successful university-based startup company involves managing conflicts of interest (COI). UMD personnel are permitted to be officers and directors in outside entities, but their fiduciary duties owed to a company may conflict with obligations to the university. Join for a discussion on fiduciary duties, managing and mitigating conflicts of interest in research, how UMD’s COI policies align with state ethics law.
