Efficiency

Faculty are engaged in a wide variety of research and development in energy efficiency.

Additionally, the  Daikin Energy Innovation Laboratory at UMD's Center for Environmental Energy Engineering (CEEE) is revolutionizing the energy-guzzling inner workings of forced air that contribute to greenhouse gas emissions—like heat pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and refrigerants—making them smaller, lighter, more efficient, and renewable.

The Center for Sustainability in the Built Environment was established in 2019 to revolutionize the physical infrastructure in cities through sustainable distributed systems providing healthy and comfortable environments, energy efficiency, and clean water.
