The University of Maryland is hosting a suite of events on Tuesday, April 21 during the regional DC Climate Week. We have reserved three rooms in the Stamp Student Union and have confirmed participation from the Maryland Energy Innovation Institute, Maryland Energy Innovation Accelerator, the UMD Office of Sustainability, and the Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute. We are looking to gauge interest from other departments and companies (including external groups) in hosting an event on April 21st.

DC Climate Week (DCCW) is a community-organized week of events, exhibitions, tours, screenings, and gatherings across Washington, DC. Together, we will explore the challenges of the climate crisis and discover the solutions that give us hope. Whether you’re deep in the work or just getting started, let’s build community and drive climate action April 20-26, 2026. You can see more about the goals of the week of event at their webpage here. Please see a DCCW guide to organizing an event here.

Space at the University of Maryland on April 21st in Stamp Student Union is secured at no cost to hosting organizations (thank you Maryland Energy Innovation Institute!). The only expected costs would pertain to any food or refreshments you’d want to provide during your event.

Examples of potential events include technology demonstrations, happy hours, research presentations, roundtables, volunteerism, campus/lab tours, nature walks, and more.

If you’re interested in hosting an event, please fill out the form. If you have questions, please reach out to Scott Christensen at schris14@umd.edu. Please submit interest by February 13th, and we’ll plan to finalize the schedule as soon as possible.

The full schedule will be published in Mid-March.
