The Maryland Clean Energy Center (MCEC), instituted by the State General Assembly in 2008, works to advance the development and adoption of clean energy products, services, and technologies as part of an overall economic development agenda and to assist the State attain specific energy generation, demand reduction, and greenhouse gas emission reduction goals. MCEC leverages private capital and private sector capabilities to help homeowners reduce costs. As the state’s promotor for development and implementation of a clean energy economy, MCEC engages in creating jobs, assisting in the commercialization of new technologies and drive reductions in greenhouse gas emissions associated with fossil fuels. These activities render MCEC a natural partner in the MEI2 initiative.
