Yonggang Yao Awarded Charles A. Caramello Distinguished Dissertation Award

Yonggang Yao – a Ph.D. student in the UMD Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) and research assistant in the Bing Research Group – has been awarded the Charles A. Caramello Distinguished Dissertation Award for dissertations completed in 2018.

The Caramello Distinguished Dissertation Award recognizes original work that makes an unusually significant contribution to the discipline. The A. James Clark School of Engineering nominated Yao’s dissertation – “High Temperature Nanomanufacturing for Emerging Technologies" – which was selected as the winner in the disciplinary area of Mathematics, Physical Sciences, and Engineering. The prize carries with it an honorarium of $1,000.

Yao, advised by MSE Associate Professor Liangbing Hu, will be honored at the Graduate School’s Annual Fellowship and Award Celebration on Tuesday, May 14.
