Liangbing Hu Nominated for Invention of the Year Award

Liangbing Hu, an associate professor of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at the University of Maryland (UMD), has been nominated for the UMD 2019 Invention of the Year Award

In the Physical Sciences category, Dr. Hu is recognized for his research on high performance graphite-paper composites. Additional team members include: 

  • Teng Li, Professor, ME (co-PI)
  • Yubing Zhou, Research Associate, MSE/Maryland Nanocenter
  • Chaoji Chen, Research Associate, MSE/Maryland Nanocenter
  • Robert Foster, Executive Vice President of Development, Trinity Rail Group

Every year, UMD honors exceptional inventions having the potential to positively influence science, society and the free market. This year's nominees have been named from Physical Sciences, Life Sciences and Information Sciences. One invention from each category will be selected to win the Invention of the Year Award, to be celebrated at the 2019 Innovate Maryland event, UMD’s annual celebration of research and innovation, on April 11, 2019.
